The Sharp EL-2135 calculator utilizes a dual power system: solar and battery. It will automatically draw power from the solar cell when sufficient light is available. In dim lighting or darkness, the included lithium-ion battery will provide power. No manual power-on switch is typically required; the calculator activates upon light exposure or key press.
