For use with Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver Versions

1. Ifihan

The Pokewalker is a pedometer accessory designed for use with the Nintendo DS games Pokémon HeartGold Version ati Pokémon SoulSilver Version. It allows players to transfer one of their Pokémon from the game to the Pokewalker and take it with them in the real world. As you walk, the Pokewalker counts your steps, which are then converted into "Watts" and experience points for the transferred Pokémon. Watts can be used to play mini-games on the Pokewalker to find items and catch wild Pokémon.

The Pokewalker requires one CR2032 coin cell battery. To install or replace the battery:

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the Pokewalker.
  2. Using a small Phillips head screwdriver, carefully remove the screw securing the battery cover.

2.2 Initial Pairing with Nintendo DS

Before using the Pokewalker, it must be paired with your Pokémon HeartGold or SoulSilver game cartridge.

  1. Ensure your Nintendo DS system is powered on and you have loaded Pokémon HeartGold or SoulSilver.
  2. From the game's main menu, select "CONNECT TO POKÉWALKER".
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to send a Pokémon to the Pokewalker. This process establishes the connection.
  4. If the Pokewalker has been previously paired with another game, you may need to reset it first (see Section 5.1).

3. Operating the Pokewalker

3.1 Walking and Earning Watts

Once a Pokémon is transferred, carry the Pokewalker with you. It will automatically count your steps. Each step contributes to Watts, which are a special currency used on the device. The more steps you take, the more Watts you accumulate.

  • Ifihan: The Pokewalker's screen shows the current time, steps taken, Watts accumulated, and the Pokémon you are walking with.
  • Ti n gbe: Attach the Pokewalker to your clothing using the included clip, or place it in a pocket where it can accurately detect movement.

3.2 Using Watts for Mini-Games

Watts can be spent on two mini-games available on the Pokewalker:

  • Dowsing Machine: Use Watts to search for hidden items.
  • Poké Radar: Use Watts to encounter and catch wild Pokémon.

Navigate through the Pokewalker's menu using the buttons to access these features. The specific cost in Watts for each game varies.

3.3 Returning Pokémon and Data to the Game

To transfer your Pokémon, accumulated Watts, and any found items or caught Pokémon back to your HeartGold or SoulSilver ere:

  1. Load your game on the Nintendo DS.
  2. Select "CONNECT TO POKÉWALKER" from the main menu.
  3. Choose the option to "RETURN POKÉMON" or "RECEIVE DATA".
  4. The data will synchronize, and your Pokémon will return to your game, bringing back any items or Pokémon found, and applying experience gained.

4. Itọju

When the Pokewalker's display becomes dim or unresponsive, it is likely time to replace the CR2032 battery. Refer to Section 2.1 for battery installation instructions.

  • Ensure the Pokewalker is securely attached to your clothing or in a pocket where it can detect consistent movement.
  • Avoid excessive shaking or erratic movements that may not register as steps.

5.1 Resetting the Pokewalker

If you encounter persistent issues or wish to pair your Pokewalker with a new game, you may need to reset it. This process typically involves a specific button combination or a reset option within the HeartGold or SoulSilver game when attempting to connect.

To reset from the game: When attempting to connect to the Pokewalker from the game, if it detects a previously paired device, the game may offer an option to "Reset Pokewalker" or "Connect to a new Pokewalker." Follow these prompts.
