Before proceeding, ensure power is disconnected at the circuit breaker.

The RetroBasics LED Trim Kit can be installed into existing housings with medium base sockets or dedicated quick connect housings.

  • For existing housings with medium base sockets: Screw the E26 medium base socket adapter into the socket in the recessed housing. Then, plug the orange connector on the E26 socket adapter into the mating orange connector on the Trim Kit. Push firmly to ensure a secure connection.
  • For dedicated quick connect housings: Plug the connector provided on the Trim Kit into the mating connector in the housing. Push firmly to ensure a secure connection.

Before final installation, select your desired color temperature using the switch located on the side of the LED Trim Kit. The available options are 2700K (Soft White), 3000K (Warm White), 3500K (Neutral), 4000K (Cool White), and 5000K (Daylight).

3. Installation into Recessed Housing

Once electrical connections are made and color temperature is set, proceed with securing the trim kit:

  • For Spring Retention Clips (4-inch models): Center the LED Trim Kit in the housing opening. Gently push the Trim Kit up into the housing evenly on all sides until it is flush with the ceiling. Ensure the retention clips align with the recessed housing, avoiding interference with any protruding elements.
  • For Torsion Springs (5/6-inch models, not applicable to this 4-inch model but for general reference): Squeeze each torsion spring together and seat them inside the housing torsion brackets. Release the springs and gently push the module into the housing until flush with the ceiling.

After successful installation, restore power to the circuit. The LED downlight will illuminate according to the selected color temperature.
