Stringing the Bass

Your Fender American Ultra II Jazz Bass features a 4-saddle adjustable HiMass bridge that supports both string-through-body and top-load operation. For string-through-body, feed the strings through the ferrules on the back of the bass. For top-load, feed the strings through the slots on the bridge plate.

Ensure strings are properly seated in the bridge saddles and nut slots. Wind the strings onto the tuning machines, leaving enough slack for a few wraps around the post.

Atunse

Use a reliable electronic tuner to tune your bass. Standard tuning for a 4-string bass is E-A-D-G (from thickest to thinnest string).

Operating the Bass

Awọn Iṣakoso Loriview

The Fender American Ultra II Jazz Bass features a sophisticated control layout for maximum tonal versatility:

  • Master Volume with S-1 Switch: Controls the overall output volume. The S-1 switch (push/pull on the volume knob) toggles between active and passive operation.
  • Pan Pot (Pickup Selector): Blends the output between the neck and bridge Ultra II Noiseless Vintage Jazz Bass pickups.
  • Treble Boost/Cut: Ṣe atunṣe awọn igbohunsafẹfẹ giga.
  • Midrange Boost/Cut: Adjusts the mid frequencies.
  • Bass Boost/Cut: Ṣe atunṣe awọn iwọn kekere.
  • Toggle Midrange Frequency Selector: A small toggle switch to select between different midrange frequencies for the Midrange Boost/Cut control.

Active/Passive Operation

The S-1 switch on the Master Volume knob allows you to switch between active (powered by the 18-volt preamp) and passive (traditional, unpowered) modes. Active mode provides greater tonal shaping capabilities via the 3-band EQ, while passive mode offers a classic, uncolored bass tone.

Ultra II Noiseless Pickups

These pickups are designed to deliver the definitive J Bass growl with exceptional tone clarity, free from unwanted hum. Experiment with the Pan Pot to find your preferred blend of neck and bridge pickup tones.

Regular cleaning will preserve the finish and playability of your bass. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe down the body, neck, and strings after each use. For deeper cleaning, use guitar-specific cleaning products. If a guitar cleaning kit was included in your bundle, refer to its instructions for proper use.

Itọju okun

Wipe down strings after each use to remove oils and dirt, which can extend their lifespan. Replace strings regularly, as old strings can negatively impact tone and intonation.

Fretboard Itọju

The ebony fretboard should be cleaned periodically. Use a soft cloth to remove any buildup. Avoid harsh chemicals. Periodically, a small amount of lemon oil or a specialized fretboard conditioner can be applied to prevent drying, following product instructions.
