The MATEKSYS MBEC12S is a compact and efficient Micro Battery Eliminator Circuit (BEC) designed for various RC applications, including model airplanes, helicopters, and FPV racing drones. It converts a wide input voltage range of 6V to 60V DC into a stable, selectable output of 5V, 9V, or 12V DC, providing reliable power to your sensitive electronic components.

2.1. Continuous Load Current & Output Ripple

The continuous load current depends on the input voltage and heat dissipation. The following table provides typical continuous current ratings and output ripple values at room temperature (22°C) without an additional heat sink:

  1. O wujade Voltage Aṣayan: The MBEC12S defaults to 5V output. To change the output voltage to 9V or 12V, you must bridge the corresponding solder pads on the module. Refer to Figure 2 for the location of the '9V' and '12V' pads.
    • For 9V output: Bridge the '9V' solder pad.
    • For 12V output: Bridge the '12V' solder pad.
    • Ensure only one output voltage is selected at a time. Do not bridge both 9V and 12V pads simultaneously.
  2. Asopọ-iwọle: Connect your power source (6V to 60V DC) to the 'IN' and 'GND' pads.
    • 'IN' is for the positive (+) input voltage.
    • 'GND' is for the negative (-) input voltage.
    • IKIRA: This module does NOT have protection for reversed input polarity. Ensure correct polarity when connecting the power source to avoid damage to the BEC and connected components.

    • 'OUT' provides the selected positive (+) output voltage (5V, 9V, tabi 12V).
    • 'G' is the common ground (-) for the output.

4. Isẹ

Once correctly installed and powered, the MBEC12S will provide a stable, regulated DC output voltage as selected. The module operates with a maximum duty cycle of 100%, meaning if the input voltage drops below the set output voltage, the regulator's output will follow the input voltage (e.g., if set to 12V output but input drops to 10V, the output will be 10V).

Monitor the continuous load current to stay within the specified limits for your input voltage to prevent overcurrent conditions and ensure stable operation. Refer to the "Continuous Load Current & Output Ripple" table in Section 2.1 for guidance.

5. Itọju

The MATEKSYS MBEC12S is a robust electronic component designed for reliability. Minimal maintenance is required:

  • Keep the module clean and free from dust, dirt, and moisture.

  • Regularly inspect solder joints and connections for any signs of wear or corrosion, especially in high-vibration environments.

    • Reduce load: The module has Overcurrent Protection (OCP) and Thermal Shutdown. If it's overheating or shutting down, the load might be exceeding its continuous current capabilities. Refer to the specifications table.
    • Improve cooling: Ensure sufficient airflow. Consider adding a small heat sink if operating at high loads or in warm environments.
  • Output Short-circuit:
    • The module is tolerant to output short-circuits for up to 3 seconds per minute. If a short occurs, disconnect power immediately, identify and resolve the short, then reconnect power. Prolonged short-circuits can damage the module.
