3.1 Basic Gameplay Overview
Bravely Default is a turn-based RPG where players control a party of four characters. The game features exploration, story progression, and strategic combat. Your objective is to advance the narrative, defeat enemies, and customize your party to overcome challenges.
3.2 Combat System: Brave and Default
The core of Bravely Default's combat lies in its unique "Brave" and "Default" system:
- Aiyipada: This command allows a character to guard, reducing incoming damage for that turn. Additionally, defaulting stores one "Brave Point" (BP) for future turns. A character can store up to 3 BP.
- Brave: This command allows a character to perform multiple actions in a single turn. Each additional action consumes 1 BP. You can use BP that you have stored, or you can "borrow" BP, causing your character to have negative BP. If a character has negative BP, they will be unable to act for that many turns until their BP returns to zero or positive.
Mastering the balance between Brave and Default is crucial for success in battles, especially against stronger foes.
3.3 Job System
Characters can be assigned various "Jobs," each with unique abilities, stats, and equipment proficiencies. Leveling up jobs unlocks new skills and passive abilities. You can also set a secondary job and equip passive abilities from any mastered job, allowing for extensive character customization and strategic party composition.
