The left unit features a D-pad, left analog stick, and various system buttons. The right unit includes A/B/X/Y face buttons, a right analog stick, and additional system buttons.
4.2 Assignable Rear Triggers
Each Split Pad Compact unit features an assignable rear trigger (FL for the left unit, FR for the right unit). These buttons can be programmed to replicate the input of other buttons on the same controller unit.
- To Assign: Press and hold the ASSIGN button on the desired controller unit. While holding ASSIGN, press the rear trigger (FL or FR) you wish to program, then press the button you want to assign to it (e.g., A, B, X, Y, L, R, ZL, ZR, D-pad directions, or analog stick clicks). Release all buttons. The rear trigger is now programmed.
- To Clear: Press and hold the ASSIGN button, then press the rear trigger you wish to clear. Release both buttons. The assignment will be cleared.

The Turbo function allows a button to be repeatedly pressed as long as it is held down, or to toggle continuous rapid-fire without holding the button.

- This controller does not include Motion Controls, HD Rumble, NFC, or IR camera functionality. Games requiring these features may not be fully compatible or playable with the Split Pad Compact.
